Removal and replacement of breast implants can be common. One of the more common reasons that a person would want to change the breast implant is to change from a saline implant to a silicone implant. While both implants can produce excellent results, over time the saline implant may lose volume and the inherent rippling to all implants may become more pronounced. The rippling can often bother patients and they may choose to change to a silicone breast implant. When performing a removal and replacement, the same incision is often used to gain access to the breast implant pocket. The implant is removed and a new mammary prosthesis is placed.
