One of the more powerful tools for body contouring is the abdominoplasty. During an abdominoplasty an incision is made along the lower abdomen. This incision is often at the location of a previous c-section scar or placed below. The skin is raised to the margins of the ribs. The rectus muscles are brought together in the midline of the abdomen. The belly button or umbilicus remains attached to the abdominal wall. There are many incisions that can be made for the belly-button. Over the course of my career, I find that the inverted-V incision produces the most naturally appearing belly button.
