One of the most common questions asked by patients considering implant removal is–
“What am I going to look like after?”
This depends on a few factors:
1. The degree of pre-operative ptosis of the breast. The less ptosis the better implant removal will look.
2. The quality and thickness of the remaining breast tissue and skin. The fewer the stretch marks and more breast tissue, the better implant removal will look.
3. The distance between the nipple and the inframammary fold. The shorter the distance, fewer if any adjustments will need to be made to the inferior pole of the breast.
The photograph demonstrates before and after implant removal in a patient with few stretch marks of the breast, and quality breast tissue. The nipple to fold distance was 10 cm pre-op, although contracted nicely with implant removal.
