The lower face and neck is one of the areas of the face where young women show signs of aging prematurely. There are many patients who are very physically fit and maintain a healthy and strong body physique, but may have some signs of aging in the face as a result of previous weigh gain or weight loss. Some women may show aging signs in their breasts from childbirth or breastfeeding, and some women may show signs of aging in the face. Often these aging changes in the face do not change with strict diet and exercise. Therefore patients may be in excellent cardiovascular shape or demonstrate great weightlifting shape, but the appearance of their neck or lower face is not commensurate with their body shape. The lower face and neck-lift is an excellent procedure to improve the contour of the neck and jowls. In this procedure the muscles of the neck are tightened and any redundant skin of the neck is re-draped over the tightened muscles. The volume of the jowls are returned to the midface and the face overall appears more youthful.
