Mastopexy or breast lift surgery is common. It is typically more common in women who are in their forties, but may also be common in women who have simply developed ptotic breasts early in life.
Breast lift procedures are often very rewarding for the patients as they can often regain their self-confidence. The mastopexy or lift procedure can be accomplished without removing any breast tissue. That is, if a patient wants to remain the same size, but just have the breast lifted, a mastopexy can be performed. This can restore a more youthful appearance to the breast without the need to place an implant.
In the early post-operative period, steri-strips are placed on the wound edges. The steri-strips remain in place for approximately 3 weeks and then are removed. A small amount of scabbing may persist on the T-junctions and at other locations, but will gradually improve over the next several days.
