Gluteal fat transfer is a common procedure. In gluteal fat transfer, liposuction is performed in one or several areas of the body and the harvested fat is transferred to the gluteal region. Satisfaction rate is high with the gluteal fat transfer procedure. The patients with the highest satisfaction rates are those patients who have lipodystrophy in their lower back with a lordotic spine posture.
Satisfaction is high with the gluteal fat transfer procedure. Patients are instructed to wear a compression garment day and night for two weeks and then at night time for two weeks. On top of the compression garment, the patient will wear an abdominal binder for compression. Antibiotics are prescribed for one week and pain pills are taken for about 2-3 days. Patients are allowed to return to exercise after one week from surgery. Most motivated patients will return to exercise at 2-3 weeks post-operatively.
