The lower blepharoplasty is a procedure that can help rejuvenate the face and give the face a more well rested appearance. In a lower blepharoplasty procedure, the lower eyelid is everted, and an incision is made in the conjunctiva. The space behind the orbicularis oculi is entered and excess orbital fat is removed from the lower eyelid. The removal of this fat prevents the herniation of the fat through the lower eyelid skin and the lower eyelids no longer have a puffy appearance.
The photograph demonstrates before and after lower eyelid blepharoplasty to rejuvenate the lower eyelids. Often when a patient undergoes a lower eyelid blepharoplasty close friends and family cannot tell that the patient has had surgery. The patient is often told that they look like they have gotten a great night’s sleep.
